You Better, You Better, You Bet
Anyone who gets the song reference above who is younger than 30 gets my absolute admiration. Yes, tonight was better and different. The better part was that the music cues were right on and the scene changes as well. Unfortunately a lot of us went up on song lyrics for some inexplicable reason. But the really good news is that everybody screwed up with panache! Personally I heard a snippet of music incorrectly and started a short verse an octave too high. But in general, this was better than last night. The crowd seemed to like the show, a few rows even gave us a standing ovation! (And apparently not someone's relatives.) I think tomorrow will be the best. Just teaches us not to buy tickets until the show has run a few days! Good work everyone! So far my voice is holding out. Sometimes it sounds pretty good. I get a lot of compliments but people don't know what I sounded like 30 years ago (or more). I used to have a really good voice; now it's okay, but not like it was. That's age (and cigars, and liquor, and some years of hard partying that we won't discuss here). It's okay though. I'm just more of a stylist now.
I got offered a bit part in an independent film but I turned it down. It was a friend's production but the part was really a walk-on and I didn't want to commit to a 4 day schedule in March when something else might be shaking. There was another role in the film that I would have jumped at but it wasn't offered. So I'm still looking around.
